GEN 2 Polaris RZR PRO R Dominates 2024 SCORE Opener at San Felipe 250

The 2024 SCORE Championship roared to life this Saturday, kicking off with the 37th San Felipe 250 race. Amongst the dust and adrenaline, the Polaris Factory Racing team once again dominated in UTV racing, with Cayden MacCachren clinching the top spot in the UTV Overall category. Brock Heger, the reigning 2023 UTV Pro Open Champion, secured a strong second place. The team showcased their prowess aboard the newly-unveiled Gen 2 Polaris RZR Pro R Factory race vehicle, which proved its mettle over the 285-mile course, reaffirming its status as the premier UTV in the field.

Starting positions for the race are determined by random draw, putting Heger starting ninth, Craig Scanlon from 15th, Max Eddy Jr. from 16th, and MacCachren from 18th. Despite their starting positions, the Polaris racers swiftly surged through the ranks. By mile marker 47, Heger had seized the lead, with Eddy Jr. and MacCachren not far behind.

By mile marker 200, the Polaris factory racing drivers were poised to sweep the podium, with Heger in the lead, followed closely by Eddy Jr. and MacCachren. However, MacCachren's strategic line selection propelled him to second place physically, ultimately leading him to snatch victory by a mere 13-second margin on corrected time. While the team celebrated MacCachren's triumph, Eddy Jr. faced a setback due to a time penalty, dropping him to fifth place. Nevertheless, Scanlon's tenacity saw him climb from 15th to seventh by the race's conclusion, showcasing the resilience of the Polaris Factory Racing team throughout the grueling competition.

Polaris was understandably proud of the team's performance in the season opener. Of their dominance, Alex Scheuerell, Polaris Factory Racing Technical Director, said:
